Some say there are two types of celebrities and stars; ones who earned fame through hard works and dedications in everything they do to achieve it, and those who are famous simply for almost no reason at all.

We all can appreciate the former category as they have given us good entertainment through performances on movies, TV series, music, or artworks of any sort.

As for the latter, they often just stir up enough controversy only to get their faces on screen all the time.

Talent and professionalism remain the best recipe to go in the entertainment industry.

Celebrities with those attributes are able to ensure steady stream of works and deservedly earn their rewards in the forms of worldwide recognition and admiration as well as financial success.

They receive love for what they do and inspire many others to follow their footsteps. For celebrities in the following list, however, doing just about nothing at all gives them faster results, and sometimes the fame sticks around too.

10 Bristol Palin

There are only two things to make Bristol Palin pretty famous: getting knocked up at 18 while her mother, Sarah Paling, was a Vice Presidential candidate.

Bristol also did Dancing with the Stars, and almost single-handedly destroyed the entire season.

Much more talented contestants such as Rick Fox, Brandy, and Audrina Patridge went home in her place, leading a lot of viewers to turn their love for the show into hate.

She was cast in Teen Mom OG after Farrah Abraham left the show, the latter also is on this list.

9 Teresa Giudice

In case you have never watched Teresa Giudice in Real Housewives of New Jersey, then you are in luck. She first came to scene in the reality show.

Soon enough Giudice earned higher stardom status for her exceedingly extravagant lifestyle.

Despite looking like she had an endless stream of money, Giudice and her spouse filed for bankruptcy in 2009.

Viewers were appropriately stunned because what they had seen on screen so far told a different story.

From that point on, a series of legal troubles kept hitting her including conspiracy to commit bank fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud, and bankruptcy fraud to name a few.

8 Heidi Montag And Spencer Pratt

Of all faux celebrities who deserve no fame, yet do have it in their hands, Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt are among the worst.

Both emerged from The Hills, a supposed-to-be reality TV show featuring the lives of several young women in Los Angeles, California.

A lot of the more experienced viewers would see the couple as the gross bottom of irrelevant characters who appear to be uneducated at the same time.

Despite the hatred, they managed to come up with new controversy time and again, and for that they reappeared on screen pretty often.

7 Kate Gosselin

Reality TV celebrities seem to love sharing much of their lives, sometimes to the point where unnecessary personal details are displayed without any sign of worry that it might just not be in their best interest to do so.

Then again, a sheer number of reality shows is happy to cast people, not for their acting talent, but their ability to create drama or at least dramatize unimportant bits.

A faux celebrity who fits the description well is Kate Gosselin, the one from TLC series Jon & Kate.

The show is about raising kids, a total eight of them.

6 Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi

Her real name is Nicole Polizzi and she has dreamed about being famous since young age.

Here is the thing about Snooki; she became famous for her appearances in the somehow-popular reality show Jersey Shore which basically means she earned fame because she knows how to party.

She has proven to the world how well she does when it comes to leveraging her persona on the screen.

Snooki has also appeared on product promotions like weight-loss drinks and a number of other shows.

5 Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson

On an episode of TLC’s Toddlers and Tiaras, there was a little girl named Alana Thompson.

The beauty pageant contestant apparently managed to captivate viewers with her antics and personalities.

One thing that caught much of the attention was her self-confidence; Thompson is traditionally pretty, yet the way she carried herself on screen was an object of admiration that made her a celebrity practically overnight.

She made appearances on interviews and was eventually given her own TV show called Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo.

4 Amber Rose

The term “slut” most likely comes with a derogatory comment, but not for Amber Rose, who came to prominence on your TV screen by being rapper’s girlfriend (or ex-girlfriend).

Instead of getting angry with or feeling insulted by the term, Rose now embraces it with confidence.

During a speech at the Clark Atlanta University, she claimed to embrace “slut” because people would think she slept with everybody anyway.

She has also hosted Amber Rose SlutWalk, an annual event to call out slut-shaming.

3 Farrah Abraham

The first time the world saw Farrah Abraham was on the show 16 and Pregnant.

Being a mother when she herself was still a teenager led her to MTV’s Teen Mom, where instances of unhinged battles with her psychotic mother were some sort of entertainment on screen.

Believe it or not, Abraham has released a book and an accompanying album titled My Teenage Dream Ended.

One of the songs in the album, On My Own, was largely considered a horrible combination of sounds.

2 Paris Hilton

One of the original faux-celebrities in the history of television is Paris Hilton. She is famous simply for being famous.

As an heir to the Hilton Hotel fortune, Paris had the chance to use her money to build a business empire of her own or earn a degree from the best university and just do something good for the world.

But she has done nothing of the sort.

Instead she spent her youth partying here and there with celebrities (both real and otherwise) and made sure her every move was well documented on tabloids and gossips.

1 Kim Kardashian

Long before Kim Kardashian became the queen of undeserved fame, she had been around Paris Hilton for quite a while. Paris hired Kim to organize closet.

But one thing that skyrocketed her to fame was a video recording of her having s*x with her boss’ brother.

Rumors have it the s*x tape was intentionally recorded and more importantly released to public domain.

Until today it remains unclear what she has actually done to deserve the stardom status. Anyway, Kim Kardashian is worth around $900 million today.
