They spend their lives under the limelight, and, sometimes, even their deaths are the subject of unrelenting media scrutiny. Here are 10 of the still unsolved celebrity death cases.

Well, some of them might be solved as far as authorities are concerned, but for the public, they’re still shrouded in mystery.

10 /10 Diana, Princess Of Wales

Everybody knows of the tragic fate of the People’s Princess. Lady Di died in a horrible car crash in Paris in 1997.

The car crash was real, no doubt about that, hordes of paparazzi witnessed it, still to this day many think Diana was murdered, together with her lover Dodi al-Fayed.

Lady Di had already stated she feared for her life, and she had reasons. There were rumors she was pregnant and about to get married to a Muslim. Now that would have been a tad awkward for the royal family.

9 /10 Virgina Rappe

This is a century-old mystery. Virginia Rappe was one of the first movie stars, back when they made only silent films. The beautiful young woman died in 1921 after suffering horrific internal injuries.

It seems she was savagely beaten at a party hosted by a guy called Roscoe’ Fatty’ Arbuckle, himself a star of the silent film era.

Arbuckle stood trial for Rappe’s murder three times, but he was never convicted. However, the murder ended his career, and he died of a heart attack. Call that divine justice, if you want.

8 /10 Natalie Wood

One of her generation’s most beautiful actresses, Natalie Wood, drowned in mysterious circumstances in 1981. At the time, she was on a boating trip with her husband, actor Robert Wagner, and a friend, who heard them arguing.

Wood’s body was found floating in the water later than night. The body had several bruises on it, which led investigators to suspect foul play.

Wagner was and remained the prime suspect this day, but there’s not enough evidence for him to be arrested. In 2018, the boat’s skipper claimed that Wagner killed Natalie Wood, but nothing happened. Wagner is 91 years old now.

7 /10 Notorious B.I.G.







Rapper Christopher Wallace, aka Notorious B.I.G., was gunned down in a drive-by shooting in L.A., barely six months after the murder of his rival, Tupac Shakur, who died in similar circumstances in Las Vegas.

To this day, many people are convinced there’s a link between the two murders. No one was arrested or charged with the murder, and later his widow filed a lawsuit against LAPD, arguing it was their fault her husband was killed.

6 /10 Marilyn Monroe

Her death in 1962 caused shock-waves around the world. At the time, she was considered the most beautiful woman in the world, and for many, she remains so to this day.

Marilyn Monroe was found dead in her bed of a barbiturate overdose. Her death was considered a suicide, although at the time, her career was picking up, and she had a couple of projects to look forward to.

Many are convinced she was murdered because she knew too much about the Kennedy brothers, as she had affairs with J.F.K. and Bobby Kennedy.

5 /10 Elizabeth Short

You might have heard of her death as the Black Dahlia case. She was an aspiring actress and, ironically, only became famous after her death as her strange murder captured worldwide media interest.

Short (22) was found dead in January 1947 in L.A., and what shocked the nation was the fact her body had been cut in two and drained of blood, leaving her skin a ghostly white.

Her beautiful face had been slashed with a knife. Over 150 men were questioned, but no arrests were ever made.

4 /10 Brittany Murphy

The Clueless star died in 2009, at the age of 32, and the established cause of death was pneumonia and severe anemia.

However, Brittany’s family claimed she was poisoned with arsenic and had been unwell for weeks before her tragic death.

They suspected her husband, screenwriter Simon Monjack, was to blame. The case got even weirder when Monjack died in the same circumstances only six months later.

3 /10 JonBenét Ramsey

It’s been 25 years since the six-year-old beauty pageant queen was found dead in the basement of the family home, and her death is still unexplained.

Her parents claimed to have received a ransom note, but they were considered prime suspects in the JonBenét Ramsey murder for a few years.

Later on, her brother was also indicated as a possible culprit, claiming he adamantly rejects this day.

Although there was a report showing the D.N.A. of a stranger was found on the body, many think it was someone in the family that killed that beautiful little girl.

2 /10 Bob Crane

He was the star of a famous 1960s sitcom Hogan’s Heroes, and his murder caused quite a stir. Bob Crane was found dead in his apartment in 1978.

He had been bludgeoned to death and had an electrical cord around his neck. The suspect was a friend, John Carpenter, and the investigation brought to light disturbing information.

Crane and Carpenter would lure women to the apartment and tape the sexual encounters.

In 1994, Carpenter was finally charged with the murder, but he was acquitted as there wasn’t enough evidence to convict him. He died four years later, taking the secret of his weird friendship with Bob Crane to his grave.

1 /10 Johnny Stompanato

He wasn’t a celebrity, but his girlfriend, Lana Turner, was one of the most celebrated actresses of the 1950s.

The official story was that Turner and small-time mobster Stompanato had a fight, and he was threatening to kill her.

Lana Turner’s daughter, Cheryl, jumped in to defend her mother and stabbed Stompanato to death.

However, many still think it was Lana Turner who killed him, but her daughter confessed to the murder as she was a child at the time and would not go to jail.

The teenager was forgiven as it was deemed a justifiable homicide in defense of the mother.
