One of the greatest advantages we have in this modern age is the fact that we have the opportunity to be successful no matter what. Success now is not dictated by your parents, race, class, gender or any other variable. However, since many people can be successful, competition has never been more fierce, which is why your success strategy needs to be on point. It’s safe to say that there is no quick cookie cutter answer that will work for everyone, anything that you try is merely a test to see if it works for you or not, any answer whether it be yes or no is a good answer since you can use it to make better decisions in the future.
- Set goals:
You absolutely cannot be successful without having a goal, there are people that can just be successful by way or accidental fame, but it’s highly unlikely that all of us will be famous or run into that kind of luck. It’s important to know two things when it comes to setting your goals, the end result, and the path to it. What is even more important is having the goal since you can use many ways to achieve a goal. Whether your goal is to be a successful athlete or to build your own business, you must already have an idea of how to get there. For instance, an athlete who wants to be recognized on a national or an international level must already know that they have to do a lot of training and compete a lot of times.
- Take small measurable steps:
After you set the goal, it’s important to take very small and easy steps instead of thinking about your progress as a stride, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. For that reason, you should take small easy steps everyday to help keep your mind on the goal. Not only is this helpful in order to keep your mind positive, but it’s also beneficial since you are actually taking steps to victory. Thinking of a goal as something huge can be very intimidating which is why it is in your best interest to chop it down to small steps and goals.
- Set your priorities and optimize your time:
Achieving a goal especially if it’s a great goal can be challenging on many levels. Many think that the most precious resources are about money, but that would be totally wrong. Your time is the most precious resource because it is limited, money can come and go, but once a minute passes, you can never get it back. This is why you need to optimize your time and know where your priorities stand. Your goal has to be at the very top priority if you are really serious about achieving your goals.
- Learn as much as you can:
Learning for school work or for getting a diploma is so much different than learning a real skill that will get you far in life. The internet is full of resources on almost every single subject you can think of for free. Learn about your domain, learn about how to achieve goals, how to be a leader, and how to be a better time manager can also seem like trivial topics, but they are one of the greatest lessons you can ever be taught.
- Focus on being consistent rather than motivated:
Motivation is perhaps the most overrated aspect of success. A lot of people think that in order to be successful, you have to be motivated. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. Motivation is very unpredictable, you can read all the books you want, listen to all the podcast and talk to anyone and still not be motivated. However, what truly matters is actually being committed to your goals. Relying on being motivated, which is a very emotional feeling, is not very responsible and leaves you dependent on uncontrollable variables. There are some days when all you have to do is to just muscle through the bad days with hard work regardless of how you feel.
